3rd July 2021
It is with pleasure that the Carnival committee is announcing that there will definitely be a Carnival this year, albeit slightly different to normal. The Weir Field will host stalls, entertainment, funfair and Radio 105.5 etc as normal but we have made the difficult decision not to hold the parade through the village. Instead, we are planning to hold a fancy dress event on the Weir Field. This is open to individuals, families or groups. Entry is free but we would like you to register your interest on the contact details below, so that we have an idea of likely numbers. There will be prizes for the top three entries.
If you would like to have a stall, please go to the website and complete a form.
If you would like to volunteer to assist on the day (and also for settling up and dismantling), we would be delighted to hear from you.
Any Covid-19 restrictions still in place at the time will be enforced.
There will still be entertainment on the Wier Field, and stalls as in previous years.
If you would like to book a stall visit the Stalls Page.
We are hoping to hold a celebration that is as much like previous Carnivals as possible, restrictions allowing.
Talking about past carnivals, we would love to see your photos, memories of past Wroughton Carnivals, no matter how old or how young, the photos that is. We would love to feature them on our website and facebook page.
Pre-Carnival Events – Unfortunately due to covid regulations, and pubs being shut we will not be able to hold any Pre-Carnival Events this year.

Wroughton Carnival; it appears that it grew out of what was called Hospital Sunday, when the local Methodist band would parade around the local villages collecting for the Victoria Hospital in Old Town. This seemed to grow into what was called Wroughton Carnival in the 1920s
